We are convinced that in the Scriptures we find principles laid forth for how the church should function.
Christ the Head
We believe that Scripture teaches that Christ is the head of the church. He is the ultimate authority. This authority does not belong to the Pastor, the deacons or one family.
The Pastor
We believe that according to Scripture the Pastor is the overseer of the Church. Brother Nick Childs serves as pastor of our church. His duties are summarized as follows:
1. Study and teach God’s word to the church.
2. Strive to live an exemplary Christian life.
3. Seek to help men and women understand that Jesus Christ can and will meet all their spiritual needs.
We believe we can find in Scripture principles that lay out the way a Church should function.
Christ The Head
We can clearly see in Scripture that Christ is the head of the Church. He has the final authority and his authority is expressed through His Word. This is not the pastor's authority, or the deacon's authority or one particular family.
The Pastor
In the Word of God we can find that the Pastor is appointed to be the overseer of the Church. In his prayer and following of Christ, he guides and implements particular things within the Church. Brother Nick Childs serves as pastor of our church. His duties are summarized as follows:
1. Study and teach God’s word to the church.
2. Strive to live an exemplary Christian life.
3. Seek to help men and women understand that Jesus Christ can and will meet all their spiritual needs.
The Deacons
We believe that in Scripture we can find the appointment of particular men titled as deacons. These men were filled with the Holy Spirit and faithful.
Simply stated their duties are:
- To encourage and strengthen the pastor and congregation and to guard them against moral and doctrinal error.
- To oversee the business and temporal affairs relating to the church.
The deacons meet with the pastor on a regular basis for prayer and planning, to appropriate funds, and, on rare occasions, to deal with matters of trouble or strife within the fellowship.
